Who can attend these events?

The events below are for individuals who are currently volunteering their time with Glasgow Life services and programmes.

How do I book my space?

To book any of our special social and celebration events, please contact our team via email volunteering@glasgowlife.org.uk or FREEPHONE 08085001315 and provide:

  • Your name
  • Name of your Glasgow Life volunteer programme
  • Preferred email address
  • If you have any dietary requirements e.g. preferred milk for tea and coffee

The volunteering team will confirm your booking and send you information including travel information. If we reach capacity for an event, volunteer names will be added to a waiting list. 

Visit to Willow Tea Rooms

Following the popularity and success of previous visits, we are thrilled to invite Glasgow Life volunteers to a morning at Macintosh at the Willow- The Original Willow Tea Rooms.

The session will start with a building tour, followed by tea/ coffee and cakes in the tea rooms, moving onto a stencilling activity and then a visit to the onsite exhibition. 

Please note places are limited, please advise when requesting your place if you have any dietary requirements.

Special Collections Tour

Join us to explore the treasures of the Mitchell Library, from beautifully illustrated medieval manuscripts, through to the first newspaper printed in Glasgow, we’ll share the books, manuscripts and photographs that make the Mitchell Library.  Light refreshments will also be available.  Limited spaces available, so make sure you book in advance.

Glasgow Muesums Resource Centre Tour

Glasgow Museums Resource Centre (GMRC) is the store for the museums' collections when they are not on display at our venues.

Join us on this staff led tour and discover this very special building and some of the highlights of the 1.4 million treasures it holds. 

We will start with a tour lasting approximately 1 hour followed by teas and coffees after in the Activity Room.

Glasgow Botanics Guided Tour

Led by Friends of Glasgow Botanics,  discover the history of the gardens followed by a circular walk around the grounds and glasshouses looking at seasonal plants of interest, local wildlife and learn about the conservation projects.  

The tour will last 1hr 30 mins and will be followed by tea/coffee.

Fairfield Heritage Museum Tour

Discover the story of Glasgow’s greatest shipyard.  Join us for a visit to Fairfield Heritage Museum based in the headquarters of the greatest shipbuilding enterprise in the world. We will get an introduction to the shipbuilding and engineering company which revolutionised sea transportation, building the largest and fastest vessels the world had ever seen before a chance to look round the museum ourselves. 

Light refreshments will be served at the end of the tour.
