The Hunterian at Kelvin Hall

The Hunterian has been at the heart of the University of Glasgow since 1807.

As the oldest public museum in Scotland, with collections spanning arts, sciences and humanities, The Hunterian is at the forefront of university museums around the world.

At Kelvin Hall, the University has created The Hunterian Collections Study Centre, a purpose-designed facility with a central collections store, object study rooms, teaching labs, conservation and digitisation studios and a conference suite.

Public access to The Hunterian collections is through our programme of tours and events. There are also items from our collections on display in the Collections Showcase area and a series of small changing displays on the Avenue. Visitors also have drop-in access to the café.
