Sisters Natalie Haas and Brittany Haas bring their extraordinary musical partnership to Glasgow for a special celebration of contemporary string music. With cello and fiddle at the heart of their sound, the duo draws on influences gathered from the Celtic Isles, American roots music, bluegrass and classical traditions, creating performances that are both technically dazzling and deeply expressive.
Having forged acclaimed careers across diverse musical worlds, they come together to explore rich melodies, intricate arrangements and intuitive interplay shaped by a lifetime of shared musicianship. Audiences can expect an elegant and adventurous journey through traditions old and new, led by two of the most distinctive string players performing today.
The Way North is a four-piece contemporary folk band based
in Glasgow and Speyside in Scotland. The band has developed
a unique high-energy sound, blending traditional instrumentalism with rich
harmonies and a wide array of cultural influences. Accordionist Gregor Niven,
guitarist Fraser MacDonald and fiddle players Daisy McCormick and Jamie Clarke
work to create an unendingly fresh, energetic and exciting take on traditional
music.
After winning the Battle of the Folk Bands at Celtic Connections in 2026, The Way North have continued to grow and experiment with their sound, determined to draw contemporary musical conversation back to trad as a genre that celebrates our past, complicates the present and illuminates a many-layered future.
