Journalist and environmental activist George Monbiot will guide us through a special evening of nature-inspired music. Together, we will explore how songs and tunes can convey a sense of hope, unity and purpose in this era of ecological crises.
Our musicians use their art to connect to the land and histories of the world around us, creating space for activism and imagining what a just future might look like through music. With more guests to be announced, our first featured artists alt-folk collective Megalichen use their compelling and earthy songwriting to question today's extractive relationships between humans and the living world, and imagine how we might move together towards a kinder system.
This event is organised in partnership with a local collective of independent artists, academics and music venues who believe that Glasgow’s musical community can play a stronger role in responding to the climate crisis. Through relationship building within (and beyond) Glasgow’s music industry, the group aims to reinvigorate Glasgow’s legacy of hosting COP26 alongside our UNESCO City of Music status.
This concert will showcase examples of how artists can use their storytelling power to inspire conversation, care and action. Join us to become part of Glasgow’s musical movement towards a just future.
