Social Wellbeing

can be defined as the sharing, developing, and sustaining of meaningful relationships with others. This allows you to feel valued, and provides a sense of connectedness and belonging.

Loneliness or isolation is something we all experience from time to time, and it can be tough to deal with. But there are things we can do to cope with it and lessen its effects on our mental health. Please explore the different services and organisations that can provide help and support

Our volunteers tell us they feel more connected with their communities, have improved physical and mental health, gained confidence, made life-long friends, and gained new skills and experience as a result of donating their valued time.

Volunteering can provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. You are doing good for others and the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment. Your role as a volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity.

Our libraries are about more than books. Sure, they have shelves filled with books but that’s only a small part of what they offer. Their  goal is to provide a place to relax, have fun and meet other people, they host everything from knitting groups to Lego fun drop in sessions to book bug to creative writing workshops

If you just want to be around other people the library is absolutely somewhere you can do that safely without judgement. I think people will walk out of here feeling a bit better.

Our Libraries

"The library is a constant positive force in my life. It gives access to books and audiobooks I could not afford otherwise. It is a warm and welcoming place." -(Anonymous)
