Matt Carmichael is a Scottish saxophonist whose music blends his love of jazz, folk and singer-songwriters. As an artist, he’s drawn to the deep emotive connection of music, and some of his major influences include Duke Ellington, The Gloaming, Adrianne Lenker, Bon Iver, Keith Jarrett, Ben Webster, Brad Mehldau, and John Coltrane.


“Compelling”, “striking”, and “uplifting” are just some of the press accolades for Matt's irresistible blend of lyrical jazz & lilting folk melodies, and his star is rising thanks to the new album, Marram, released on Edition Records. 


Here, Matt showcases Dancing with Embers, an exciting new project where he performs with an international sextet as part of a Scottish tour. Matt is joined by Norwegian pianist Liv Hauge, Rose Logan (Fiddle), James Mackay (Guitar), Mark Hendry (Bass) and Corrie Dick (Drums).
