✍ Crime & Thriller, Historical Mystery, Adventure

Journalist Gabriella Bennett unites two historical fiction writers on stage to discuss what makes a compelling story set in another time and place.

In The Burning Grounds, the award-winning Abir Mukherjee returns to the world of his protagonists, Sam Wyndham and Surendranath Banerjee, for the sixth time. The pair are thrust together to solve a murder and locate a missing photographer in interwar Calcutta. Can the two men put their differences aside to solve the case?

Meanwhile, in Traitor’s Legacy by bestselling author S J Paris, the scene is set in England, 1598. Queen Elizabeth’s successor remains unnamed. The country teeters on a knife edge. When a young heiress is found murdered at the theatre, the Queen’s spymaster Robert Cecil calls upon former agent Sophia de Wolfe to investigate. In a race against time, Sophie must uncover the truth before her past threatens to destroy her.
