Starting out on your family history journey can be daunting, but we can help.

Join one of the librarians from the Mitchell Library for a FREE introductory session on library resources for family history and local history.

Find out about electoral registers, monumental inscriptions, censusAncestry, Find my Past, Post Office directories, the Glasgow Collection, and our extensive newspaper collection.

We will also explore the local history of Riddrie using photographs and newspapers from the Mitchell's collections, and share our own memories of the local area.

Riddrie Library was the favourite library of artist Alasdair Gray when he was a boy.

“Glasgow Public Libraries were a greater source of learning to me than my secondary school, and my local Library, being Riddrie I knew best usually visiting it twice a week, if not more,” Alasdair Gray, 2017
