Glasgow's Sport Awards celebrate physical activity and sport.

The awards recognise people, organisations and projects that make a difference in Glasgow.

2024 Nomination Categories

Glasgow's Sport Awards are your opportunity to nominate a person, an organisation or project that you want to recognise.

Tell us what makes your nominee special and the impact they make on Glasgow.

All categories, minus Lifetime Achievement, can only include achievements and impacts between September 2023 - September 2024.

A business that has supported the delivery of physical activity in communities.

We want to recognise businesses that offer practical support, advice and investment to help community activity thrive. 

Nominations are welcome for any business supporting community activity in Glasgow.

This is a new award category for 2024.

An individual that has shown an outstanding commitment to coaching and further development of athletes or teams within their sport.

Nominees must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Born in Glasgow.
  • Glasgow Resident.
  • Member of a Glasgow Club.
  • Coaches Glasgow-based athletes or clubs.

Previous winners include Jonny Mitchell, Ian Mirfin MBE and Andy Young.

Nominate here

An organisation or project that uses physical activity or sport to make a difference within their community. 

Nominees must be delivering activities that meet community need within Glasgow.

Previous winners include Active Life Club, Firhill Youth Project and Community Sports Hub, Free Wheel North and Easterhouse Phoenix.

A sportsperson, with a disability, who has shown outstanding commitment and performance at a local, regional, national and/or international level.
 
Nominees must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Born in Glasgow
  • Glasgow Resident
  • Member of a Glasgow Club

Previous winners of this award include Geraldine Fitzsimmons, Samantha Kinghorn MBE and Gordon Reid OBE.

An organisation or project that demonstrates significant achievements in using physical activity and sport to positively impact upon the physical and mental wellbeing of individuals and groups.  

Nominations are welcomed for organisations and projects that deliver targeted activities to improve the health and wellbeing of those who attend.

Nominees should be delivering activity within Glasgow.

The previous winner of this award was the Walking Football programme delivered by Glasgow Life.

A person who has shown outstanding commitment, dedication and enthusiasm in their support of sport over a considerable period of time (20+ years).

Nominees must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Born in Glasgow.
  • Glasgow Resident
  • Member of a Glasgow Club

Previous winners include Elizabeth Wilder (Victoria Park AC), Willie Cameron (Shoot for Success SCIO), Bernie Mitchell (Hillhead Sports Club) and William Smith (Hillwood Boys Club).

A personality in the world of sport who gave the most outstanding performance in the past 12 months.
 
Nominees must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Born in Glasgow.
  • Glasgow Resident.
  • Member of a Glasgow Club.
  • Made a significant contribution to sport in Glasgow.

Previous winners of this award include Katie Archibald, Samantha Kinghorn, Sir Andy Murray and Laura Muir.

An organisation or project that uses physical activity or sport to bring people and communities together in Glasgow.

Nominations are welcomed for organisations and projects that have delivered targeted activities to break down barriers to build more cohesive communities.

Nominees must be delivering activity within Glasgow.

The Previous winner of this Award was Glasgow Afghan United.

A volunteer who has made an invaluable contribution to physical activity or sport within their school, club or local community.
 
Nominees must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Born in Glasgow.
  • Glasgow Resident.
  • Member of a Glasgow Club.

Previous winners of this award include Sheryl Braidwood (SAPC Sycamores), Sarah Howitt (Maryhill Community Tennis Club) and Abdul Bostani (Glasgow Afghan United).

Nominate here

A young sportsperson, aged 18 years of age or younger, who has displayed outstanding performances at a local, regional, national or international level within their sport.

Nominees must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Born in Glasgow.
  • Glasgow Resident.
  • Member of a Glasgow Club.

Previous winners include Zain Iqbal, Katie Shanahan, Lewis Stewart and Kirsty Gilmour.

Glasgow's Sport Awards recognise sportscotland GOLD award schools and  school projects to Support Young Glaswegians to get active.

Active Life Club

Active Life Club received the 2023 Community Impact Award.

The club, celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year, provides free community activity. Listen to the young people involved to see the difference this fantastic organisation make.
