Langside Library refurbishment

Exterior of a stone-built Victorian library on a clear winter day

Langside Library is to undergo a major refurbishment through funding from Glasgow City Council's Community Asset Fund, to improve the service to better meet the needs of the local community.

The programme of works at Langside Library will include, a new, flat level, accessible main entranceway on Battlefield Road, an exciting children's zone, an improved adult reading and study area. A bookable community meeting and learning room equipped to support local community activities, and re-arranged interior spaces will provide flexibility to meet a variety of uses. Additionally, more customer toilets will be provided, including a Changing Places toilet.

In order to give us time to carry out this work, the venue will be closed from late 2024 reopening in winter 2026/27.

During these works the nearest alternative libraries are Pollokshaws and Govanhill.

Come along to Langside Library to see the plans, ask questions and find out more at the following staffed information sessions:

  • Saturday 7 September 10am to 5pm
  • Tuesday 10 September 1pm to 8pm
